The most plentiful gas in the universe is Hydrogen gas. Our rivers, lakes and oceans are full of it in the shape of water (H2O). Considering the oceans cover 4/5ths of the worlds surface we shall never run out of it! The big issue is separation and one that is becoming easier by the day as technology creates better and easier ways to separate the H2 and the O.
Using Green energy from renewable sources such as Solar, Wind, Tidal etc we have limitless amounts of it!
Already one country has become the world leader in Hydrogen fuel and that is Denmark. Access to Hydrogen fuel is available at the moment to 98% of the population, so wherever you drive around Denmark you will find a filling station.

Hydrogen beats electric hands down. With an electric car you are dragging around 1000 to 2000 lbs weight of battery constantly. That’s the equivalent of 11x13 stone men! Quite a load before you do any useful work! In a normal fossil fuel vehicle the weight reduces as the fuel is used. Not in an electric vehicle however! A fast charge time for an electric vehicle is around 30 minutes and then your range may be limited. Remember too that the electricity to charge the vehicle may come from a fossil fuel burning power station which defeats the purpose of having an electric vehicle in the first place!
On the other hand operating a Hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is no different from that of your conventional fossil fuel vehicle.
Fuelling time is about 3-4minutes and the range is 300 miles plus. There is even a vehicle that will cover 1500 miles on one tank!

The above shows that fossil fuels are the fuels of the past of the 20th and 19th centuries and now we are in the 21st century. We need a matching economic system that will guarantee employment and stability in society. The Casino economy does not work and leads to the financial disasters like the Wall Street crashes and great scams like the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scandal of 2009. I believe Hydrogen will be a great leveller as those who own oil, coal or gas fields will no longer be able to dominate financial markets.
In this way Climate Change will indirectly benefit us as we seek solutions which not only solve the problem but will in turn improve our way of living.
Denmark and Japan are the currently world leaders in the use of Hydrogen fuel not only for transportation but both domestic and commercial usage.
There is insufficient space on this site to do it justice but the following gives insight to Japan's direction.
